From Charlotte:

Determine which route is best - choice of 74 to Monroe or 521 to Lancaster.

Time - an hour from south Charlotte or Pineville (where 485 and 521 intersect).

I – 77 South

485 (outer belt hwy.) East

Take the exit for 521 south. (Johnston Road)

Stay on 521 south to Lancaster, SC.

As you get to the limits of Lancaster, there will be a "Bojangles fast food" on your left and a Texaco gas station on your right. It is here that you will get on the 521 by –pass. Drive over the "overpass" and exit to your right, following the signs that say "Myrtle Beach" and "McBee".

Stay on the 521 by pass (approx. 4 to 5 miles) around Lancaster to the exit for Route 903.

Take Rt. 903 - again follow the signs to Myrtle Beach and McBee. (east)

Stay on 903 for 20 miles.

As a landmark, we are 5 miles past the intersection of 601 - where there is a gas station in the fork - stay to the right on 903. We are on the left - there is a small green and white sign on the left.

Turn left at the sign which is Turnpoint (dirt road) - continue straight onto Thermal Trail which runs along the field. At the end of the field - take a left on Lift Lane to the entrance. You are there!

From Monroe:

Take 601 to Pageland

601 becomes 151 at Pageland

151 to Jefferson. 151 "by pass" around Jefferson intersects with 265 – yet there is not a stop sign.

Take right onto 265 towards Jefferson.

Follow 265 straight through the light at the top of the hill in Jefferson.

From that light - go 3.3 miles on 265.

Take left on Taxahaw Road. (There will be a small green and white sign on your right!)

Now the tricky part – on your right about one hundred yards is another Bermuda High Soaring sign up on a hill and a dirt road. This is the back entrance – not to be fooled into going four wheeling – you may elect to continue straight and enter from the front entrance, which has a MUCH better –yet, still a dirt road.

If you elect to take the smooth dirt road –

Continue straight ahead on Taxahaw Road to the stop sign.

There will be a mustard colored block building on your right. Here you will take a right onto SC 903.

On 903 you will cross over the county line to Lancaster County and there will be a fork in the road with a small green and white sign "Bermuda High Soaring" – Take the right fork and your first right on Thermal Trail. Follow Thermal Trail along the field - take a left on Lift Lane to the entrance!
