Directions from Columbia, SC

 

Allow an hour from the east side of Columbia (Spring Valley—Sesqui-Centennial State Park area).

 

Take I-20 East towards Camden.

 

Take the Lugoff exit (Exit 92) at Rt. 601.  (This exit is before Exit 98 for Camden itself).

 

Go north from the exit ramp (right turn) onto 601 until 601 merges right with US 1.  Continue east towards Camden.

 

Follow US 1 past the Invista Plant (formerly the Dupont Plant) on you right; continue east over the Wateree River Bridge.

 

Go left at next light onto Springdale Road, the 521/601 bypass.  Just before the intersection, there is a Wal-Mart shopping center on the left and a K Mart and Big Lots in the shopping center on the right.

 

Follow Springdale Road (four lanes) until it turns into a two lane road and continue straight through the light.  Take a left at the second light onto Rt. 601/521.

 

Follow 601/521 north for 2 miles.

 

At the EMS station on the left there is a “North Central High Schoolsign on the left side of 601.  Take a right at the sign onto Lockhart Road (28-20).

 

Follow Lockhart road for 15 miles to the stop sign at the intersection of Rt. 341.  Go right 0.4 miles on 341.  Take your first left onto Mt. Pisgah Road. 

 

Follow Mt. Pisgah Road 5.5 miles to the intersection with SR 157, where there is an elementary school on the right and a fire station further ahead on the left.  Continue straight through this intersection.

 

About 2.5 miles past the school you will see the stop sign at the intersection of 903 and Mt. Pisgah Road; turn left on 903. 

 

Follow 903 for about 1 mile.  On 903 you will cross over the county line to Lancaster County and there will be a fork in the road with a small green and white sign “Bermuda High Soaring.”  Take the right fork and your first right on Thermal Trail.

 

Follow Thermal Trail along the field; then take a left on Lift Lane to the entrance!
